The final phase of our current development programme, will
concentrate on communications by providing a CTV Internet site to reach a new
high in the level of information-sharing between TICs throughout the country.
The new site will work by offering a constant
updating of a 'bulletin board' for all our subscribers.
With each site collating data on its own area, the CTV Internet hub will
automatically update and distribute every change to all CTV clients.
In addition, our private web space will have the
ability to take and confirm your bookings - automatically. This is one of the
most exciting developments in tourism, and will mean that we can link to an
international reservation system, making bookings from Kirkcaldy to Kathmandu!
The new site will work by having accommodation or
ticket providers enter their current availability by fax, or a standard
touch-tone telephone, if they don't have access to a PC.
When TICs make their search, selection and
subsequent booking, the room or ticket will immediately be taken from the
available pool, and so cannot be double-booked - this is the advantage of
working in real time, rather than relying on periodic synchronisation.
On other hubs, where data is only updated at
intervals, users run the risk of double-bookings.
For more information,
please either fax or e-mail us: CTV was the first to develop computerised TIC
systems, and now we're the first to be going into the new Millennium with a
complete Internet solution!
